Donor Medical Care Specialist

Job summary

CSL Plasma is seeking a healthcare professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis and to provide limited emergency medical care in a fast-paced setting.

You will interview donors, review medical histories, and collaborate with the Center Medical Director to answer questions about donor suitability. You will also review test results, counsel on reactive findings, and deliver routine care per SOPs, escalating critical cases as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• Foreign medical school graduate must be licensed as a physician or certified as an EMT if applicable.
• For NY: current state licensure or certification as an RN, MD or DO or in reciprocal state.
• Minimum of one year of health care experience.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.
• Ability to assess heart and lung sounds and identify signs of drug use.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff per licensure.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine donation suitability.
• Respond to medically related questions with Center Medical Director guidance.
• Review test results and assess continued donor suitability; address any donor symptoms.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results; refer to community facilities as needed.
• Provide routine care following SOPs; escalate critical situations to Center Physician or local medical providers.

Education

Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program

Foreign medical school graduate licensure or certification requirement (RN/MD/DO)

State licensure or certification as RN/MD/DO in applicable state or reciprocal state (NY)

Minimum one year of health care experience

Experience in plasma or whole blood collection center or regulated environment (preferred)

Ability to perform physical assessment (heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use)
