Qualifications

• Active state licensure from paramedic, nursing, PA, chiropractic, naturopathic program or medical school.
• Foreign medical school graduate with current physician license or EMT certification in state.
• Minimum 1 year healthcare or clinical experience from a vocational or nursing program.
• Experience in plasma/whole blood center or regulated environment preferred.
• Ability to perform physical assessment (heart/lungs, signs of drug use).
• Ability to instruct donors, staff and community about plasma donation benefits.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Administer and supervise approved immunizations other than red blood cell immunizations.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff.
• Promote positive donor relations.
• Conduct confidential interviews with donors for suitability.
• Respond to medical questions from staff with the Center Medical Director.
• Review donor history and health assessments for donor suitability.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results.
• Explain informed consent to donors, including procedures, hazards and consent.
• Handle medical emergencies per SOPs and check emergency kits.
• Review test results and ensure continued donor suitability.
• Manage donor immunization programs and antibody titer requirements.
• Maintain confidential donor and center information.
• Cross-train in other areas as needed.
