Job summary

CSL Plasma is seeking a donor pheresis technician to collect plasma from donors via pheresis and venipuncture, while following SOPs and FDA guidelines. You will monitor donors, document incidents, and ensure a positive donor experience in a fast-paced center.

The role requires at least 12 months in a medical setting or as a phlebotomist, with CSL DST training for internal candidates. Travel and overtime may be required to support center operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum twelve (12) months of experience in a medical or health care environment.
• External candidates must have a minimum of 6 months’ experience as a phlebotomist; one year of experience is preferable.
• Internal CSL Employees Applicants must have successfully completed the CSL Plasma DST training.

Responsibilities

• Performs all aspects of the pheresis procedure and plasma collection, including donor setup, donor monitoring and donor disconnect.
• Performs venipuncture on donors to begin pheresis process in compliance with SOPs and FDA guidelines.
• Evaluates donor vein performance and makes adjustments to expedite donation time and ensure donor safety and product quality.
• Educates new donors on therapeutic products made from donated plasma, screening tests, appointment system, center policies, and nutrition.
• Maintains alertness to donor reactions and assists or notifies appropriate staff as needed.
• Uses PDA to record incidents during pheresis, including machine alerts, volume variances and adverse events.
• Performs calibrations and verifies maintenance as outlined in SOPs; resolves alarms or donor issues.
• Troubleshoots equipment failures and creates incident documentation; removes/replaces equipment from service.
• Monitors donor flow on the donor floor to ensure continuous turnover and notifies supervisor of flow issues.
• Collects arm samples or whole blood samples from donors for testing.
• Ensures accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system per SOPs.
• Maintains confidentiality of donor, personnel, and center information.
• May cross-train in other areas to meet business needs.
• Bilingual skills may be required at organization's discretion.
