Job summary

CSL Plasma in Lawton, OK is seeking a qualified medical professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures and provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff.

You will interview donors, review medical histories, and determine ongoing donor suitability. You will escalate critical cases to the Center Physician and refer donors for follow-up as needed, following SOPs.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• If graduation is from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must also currently be licensed as a physician or state certification as an emergency medical technician.
• For NY: current state licensure or certification as an RN, MD or DO in the state you are applying for work or in a reciprocal state.
• Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in a health care environment.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.
• Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures under general supervision.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff including administering medication or treatments as allowed by licensure.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine donation suitability.
• Respond to medically related questions and provide information to staff on donor suitability.
• Review test results to determine continued donor suitability; assess donor symptoms that may affect donation ability.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results; refer donors for follow-up.
• Provide routine care following SOPs; escalate critical medical situations to Center Physician or local providers as required.
