Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic program.
• Must hold current state licensure or certification as RN/MD/DO or equivalent; foreign grads may need state credentials.
• Minimum of one year relevant experience in a health care environment.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center preferred.
• Ability to assess heart, lung sounds and signs of drug use.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff following licensure requirements.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine donation suitability.
• In conjunction with the Center Medical Director, respond to questions on donor suitability.
• Review test results and determine continued donor suitability; assess donor symptoms.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results and refer for follow-up as needed.
• Provide routine care per SOPs; escalate critical medical situations to physicians or local providers as required.
