Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• EMT-Paramedic license in the state of responsibilities.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, medical history, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs and Center Physician standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical/technical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation with EHS guidance.
• Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations related to pandemics.
