Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) in Bismarck, ND. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor safety, review test results, and provide center-level support under supervision of the Center Manager and Center Physician.

Responsibilities include handling donor reactions, following SOPs for medical emergencies, and supporting vaccination programs and occupational health processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: RN/NP/PA.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions following SOPs and handle medical emergencies with standing orders and donor transport as needed.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for concerning findings or medical/technical guidance.
• Support employee vaccination programs (Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu) as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation with EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemics.
