Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to determine donor eligibility, manage donor events, review lab results, and support safety programs at the New York plasma center. The role requires state licensure as an EMT/RN/LPN and current CPR/AED certification, with at least two years in a clinical setting.

The position reports to the Center Manager and works under the Center Physician for medical issues, ensuring compliance with plasma collection

Qualifications

• Licensed or certified in the state where duties are assigned (EMT-B/EMT-A/EMT-I/EMT-P, LPN/LVN, or RN)
• Current CPR and AED certification
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
• FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and medical emergencies per SOPs; assist in developing center physician standing orders and donor transport as needed.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical/technical issues, donor safety, or eligibility.
• Support vaccination programs for employees (Hepatitis B, Seasonal Flu) and assist in occupational health processes.
