Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Georgia is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support center operations and donor care. You will determine donor eligibility, review test results, manage donor adverse events, and coordinate with physicians and Medical Affairs for medical guidance.

The role requires an EMT-Paramedic license, CPR/AED certification, IV therapy qualifications, and at least two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic.
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; proper informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) and manage medical emergencies per SOPs and standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation per EHS guidance.
