Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to support plasma center operations in Georgia. You will determine donor eligibility, review tests, and manage donor safety under physician direction and SOPs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, and RN; CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; proper informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) per SOPs and manage medical emergencies including standing orders and donor transport to care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/ER; refer to EHS for guidance on incidents.
