Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Columbus, GA seeks a Medical Support Specialist to determine donor eligibility and monitor donor safety under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician. You will review laboratory test results and communicate unsuitable results to donors while maintaining strict compliance with plasma collection regulations.

The role requires licensure as an EMT and/or RN/LPN, current CPR/AED certification, and at least two years in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Licensed or certified in the state for Emergency Medical Services (EMT-B/EMT-A/EMT-I/EMT-P) and RN/LPN qualifications.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy and FDA training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, medical history, and physical examination.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs and standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical concerns.
• Support vaccination programs for employees (Hepatitis B, Seasonal Flu) where applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/EHS for follow-up.
