Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) in Webster, TX. You will determine donor eligibility, manage adverse events and review test results to ensure donor safety and compliance.

You will work under the Center Manager and Center Physician, supporting EHS programs and vaccination initiatives while maintaining high standards of patient care in a plasma donation center setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN.
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; manage informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) per SOPs and manage medical emergencies including standing orders and donor transport to care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, donor safety and eligibility.
• Support hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation by occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance.
• Possible Pandemic Coordinator role when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemics.
