Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Fayetteville, NC is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to determine donor eligibility, review test results and ensure donor safety. This role operates under the Center Manager and Center Physician to support plasma center operations.

Ideal candidates hold EMT-B/EMT-A/EMT-I/EMT-P, LPN/LVN or RN licenses, CPR/AED, and have at least two years in a clinical setting. Vaccination programs and EHS coordination are also part of the responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, RN; CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination and testing.
• Evaluate donor reactions as per SOPs and arrange medical care if needed.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/EHS as needed.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations.
