Job summary

CSL Plasma is seeking a Medical Staff Associate to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis and provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff. You will interview donors, review medical history, and escalate critical cases as needed within SOP guidelines.

You will collaborate with the Center Medical Director to answer medical questions, assess test results for donor suitability, and counsel donors on reactive results, referring as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• If graduation is from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must also currently be licensed as a physician or state certification as an emergency medical technician.
• For NY: current state licensure or certification as an RN, MD or DO in the state you are applying for work or in a reciprocal state.
• Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in a health care environment.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.
• Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff per licensure and certification.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine donor suitability.
• In conjunction with the Center Medical Director, respond to medically related questions and provide information on donor suitability.
• Review test results and determine continued donor suitability; assess donor symptoms that may prevent continued donation.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results; refer donors to community facilities for follow-up and counseling.
• Provide routine care following SOPs; escalate critical medical situations to Center Physician or local medical service providers as required.
• Refer to local medical service providers as required.

Education

Paramedic/Nursing/PA/Chiropractic/Medical school or naturopathic medical training

RN/MD/DO licensure or certification for NY or reciprocal state

Minimum 1 year healthcare experience
