Job summary

CSL Plasma seeks qualified healthcare professionals to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures and to provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff. You will interview donors, review medical histories, and determine eligibility for plasma donation, in collaboration with the Center Medical Director.

You will review test results, assess donor symptoms, and counsel donors on reactive results while referring them for follow-up.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• If graduation is from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must also currently be licensed as a physician or state certification as an emergency medical technician.
• Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in a health care environment.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.
• Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures under general supervision.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff including administering medication or treatments per licensure or certification.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine donation suitability.
• Coordinate with Center Medical Director to address donor suitability questions.
• Review test results to determine continued donor suitability; assess donor symptoms that may bar donation.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results; refer donors to community facilities for follow-up and counseling.
• Provide routine care following SOPs; escalate critical medical situations to Center Physician or local medical service providers as required.
