Job summary

Slate is seeking a hands-on Plant Vehicle Engineer, General Assembly to support launch readiness, production quality, and continuous improvement in General Assembly, focusing on the base truck. You will bridge the manufacturing plant with Design & Release Engineering to resolve issues and protect product intent.

This onsite role requires 5+ years in automotive engineering or related fields, with strong collaboration skills and a deep understanding of assembly processes, BOMs, and change control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• 5+ years in automotive engineering, manufacturing engineering, launch, or vehicle integration.
• Experience supporting vehicle development and launch from concept through production ramp.
• DFM/DFA experience and ability to provide plant feedback into product/process decisions.

Responsibilities

• Support the launch and ongoing production in a General Assembly environment.
• Serve as Plant Vehicle Engineering point of contact for General Assembly production and vehicle integration issues.
• Help ensure General Assembly processes maintain product design intent, safety requirements, quality standards, craftsmanship expectations, and configuration requirements.
• Support engineering change implementation, prototype/pilot builds, breakpoint coordination, plant readiness, issue tracking, containment, readiness reporting, and lessons learned.
