Job summary

HireTalent is seeking a Payroll Coordinator for our client plant in Illinois. The role supports ~950 hourly employees and focuses on accurate time entry, payroll processing, and internal controls. Flexible hours may be required around deadlines, including weekends/holidays when needed.

The position requires reliability, strong communication, and experience with time-keeping systems and payroll policies. Onsite work at the plant with contact to Finance/Controller for payroll-related matters.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of payroll and accounting principles (GAAP) preferred, but not required.
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal, across all levels.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
• 1–2 years automated time and attendance system or general accounting experience.
• Understanding of how attendance impacts payroll (FMLA, STD, Vacation, etc.).
• SAP experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee editing and verification of hourly time punches into Hershey payroll process daily.
• Process bi-weekly plant payroll for hourly employees and biweekly accruals; weekly payroll for contingent workforce.
• Ensure SOX controls are in place and functioning throughout the year.
• Process payroll deductions and additional earnings timely.
• Assist tracking hourly attendance per plant policy.
• Onsite to assist employees with payroll questions via Service Now.
• Process garnishment orders and remittances; set up new vendors.
• Serve as SME for ad hoc payroll requests and data for Finance/Controller.
• Assist wage updates for hourly employees per deadlines.
