Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead daily plant activities, ensure safe and compliant operation, and drive performance improvements. You will mentor staff, manage training and cross-training, and coordinate with the Facility Manager on budgets and reporting.

The role requires extensive power plant experience, including turbine controls and DCS systems, with a focus on safety, reliability, and cost efficiency in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of power plant operations.
• Strong technical ability with large frame, multi-train turbine experience.
• Experience with Siemens T3000 DCS and turbine controls.
• Knowledge of zero discharge systems.
• Ability to write operating procedures and requisitions.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines and P&ID's.
• Understanding of budgets, contracts and plant economics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Direct Operations Department daily activities.
• Promote a safe working environment and enforce safety procedures.
• Develop and implement facility training programs and cross-training.
• Direct plant lockout-tagout program.
• Support environmental compliance and reporting with HSE.
• Monitor and optimize plant performance and justify improvements.
• Assist in budgeting and annual operating plans.
• Delegate tasks to maintain backlog and staff exposure to multiple functions.
• Mentor staff and ensure qualification and skill maintenance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Facility Manager.
