Job Summary

This role is responsible for all aspects of plant operations of the assigned manufacturing plant including safety, production, quality, engineering, maintenance, warehousing, and people. The Plant Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all work activities and resources necessary for optimal manufacturing to achieve all plant, business, and company goals and objectives. Ideally, the candidate will have a hands-on approach to plant management with a bias towards implementing best practices, establishing and developing a high-performing team, and creating a culture of continuous improvement in safety, service, quality, cost, and people.

Essential Functions
  • Ensure the plant operates in accordance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations. Provide resources to meet safety and environmental performance goals. Build and sustain a strong safety culture focused on preventative actions.
  • Build a culture of collaboration, trust, and early issue escalation. Promote teamwork and productivity through open communication, timely decision-making, and accountability.
  • Create an organizational culture that encourages employee involvement, innovative thinking, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the plant’s sustainability efforts to achieve Avient’s 2030 goals of reducing waste to landfill and energy consumption.
  • Attain plant objectives and production schedules while exceeding customer expectations for product standards.
  • Maintain standards for product quality, equipment, and production performance, utilizing cost-effective technology to maximize output.
  • Drive lean initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Develop a plant operating plan aligned with the annual business plan.
  • Manage capital plans supporting business strategy and plant operations.
  • Ensure the plant meets its annual operating budget and KPIs.
  • Manage salaried staff, providing guidance, coaching, and career development support.
  • Implement necessary changes effectively.
  • Represent Avient externally, engaging with local civic groups, regulatory agencies, and emergency services.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Personal Skills: Stress management, statistical skills, reading/comprehension, self-motivation, analytical skills, time management, teamwork, organizational skills.
  • Software Skills: Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, SAP.
  • Leadership Attributes: Engagement, courage, valuing differences, accountability, talent development, organizational savvy.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 10+ years in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in leadership managing 25+ employees across multiple shifts with budget responsibility.
  • Formal Lean and Six Sigma training preferred.
  • OSHA certification or training preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Extended standing, sitting, talking, listening; ability to walk and use hands.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, climbing ladders/stairs.
  • May lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Work environment includes noise, protective equipment, and exposure to outdoor conditions, heat, humidity, dust, or fumes.
