About The Role

We are seeking a results-driven Plant Manager with expertise in lean transformation, team development, and technology implementation. This position holds significant importance within Talan’s leadership team.

Our production team is composed of a dynamic mix of experienced and new talent, brought in to meet increasing customer demand. The ideal candidate is passionate about developing people and has a strong track record of leading lean transformation in manufacturing environments.

While our foundation lies in metal stamping and aluminum extrusion, our operations are expanding into automation, assembly, and post-processing. Talan is in the early stages of its lean journey, and the Plant Manager will play a critical role in driving improvements in productivity, quality, and culture.

This hands-on leadership role will be responsible for overseeing daily operations while also shaping long-term strategic initiatives related to capacity planning, safety, capital investment, and team growth.

Core Responsibilities
Leadership & Coordination
  • Lead and develop a team of 3 supervisors and 80+ frontline employees.
  • Foster a safe, respectful, collaborative, and high-performing work environment.
  • Effectively allocate supervisors and resources to maximize utilization and efficiency.
Communication & Collaboration
  • Work cross-functionally with supply chain, customer service, maintenance, and executive leadership to align goals and ensure operational continuity.
  • Share key insights and progress through regular shift reports, production updates, and leadership meetings.
Process Improvement
  • Lead and champion lean events such as Kaizen, SMED, and TPM.
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure accountability in the execution of improvements and track progress over time.
Training & Development
  • Train supervisors and leads to become lean agents of change.
  • Collaborate with HR and leadership to improve recruiting, onboarding, and retention processes.
Strategic Planning & Growth
  • Identify and present solutions for capacity constraints, staffing needs, and capital improvements.
  • Take ownership of aspects of new product launches, including ramp-up and troubleshooting.
Technology & Data Utilization
  • Leverage ERP systems to streamline scheduling, workflow, and reporting.
  • Support the implementation of production data systems for downtime tracking, quality, and material movement.
Key Objectives
  • Achieve zero reportable accidents.
  • Maintain zero external PPM quality issues.
  • Improve efficiency through lean initiatives.
  • Drive 90-day and 180-day new hire retention metrics.
Requirements
Experience & Skills
  • Proven leadership experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success in leading lean manufacturing initiatives (Kaizen, SMED, TPM, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate across departments and influence outcomes.
  • Operational familiarity with ERP systems and data analysis tools (Excel, dashboards, etc.).
  • Hands-on, action-oriented approach with the ability to drive culture and accountability on the shop floor.
  • Familiarity with metal stamping, aluminum extrusion, or related manufacturing processes is preferred.
Education & Credentials
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent practical experience) is preferred.
  • Certifications or formal training in lean manufacturing principles are advantageous.
Preferred Qualities
  • Strong analytical thinking and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to coach, develop, and inspire teams toward high performance.
  • Comfortable balancing day-to-day execution with long-term strategic planning.
