Job Summary

This role is responsible for all aspects of plant operations of the assigned manufacturing plant including safety, production, quality, engineering, maintenance, warehousing, and people. The Plant Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all work activities and resources necessary for optimal manufacturing to achieve all plant, business, and company goals and objectives. Ideally, the candidate will have a hands-on approach to plant management with a bias towards implementing best practices, establishing and developing a high-performing team, and creating a culture of continuous improvement in safety, service, quality, cost, and people.

Essential Functions
  1. Safety and Compliance: Ensure the plant operates in accordance with safety, health, and environmental regulations. Build a strong safety culture focused on preventative actions.
  2. Leadership and Culture: Build a culture of collaboration, trust, and early issue escalation. Promote teamwork, open communication, and individual accountability.
  3. Employee Involvement and Innovation: Encourage employee involvement, innovative thinking, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
  4. Sustainability: Lead efforts to achieve Avient’s 2030 sustainability goals, including waste reduction and energy conservation.
  5. Operational Excellence: Attain production schedules, ensure product standards, and maximize efficiency using cost-effective technology.
  6. Continuous Improvement: Drive lean initiatives and foster a continuous improvement culture.
  7. Planning and Budgeting: Develop plant operating and capital plans aligned with business strategies.
  8. Performance Management: Achieve operational KPIs and manage staff performance, coaching, and career development.
  9. Change Management: Implement necessary changes effectively.
  10. External Relations: Represent Avient externally, engaging with community, regulatory agencies, and emergency services.
  11. Compliance and Other Duties: Maintain legal and policy compliance and perform other assigned duties.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related technical field required; Master’s preferred.

• 10+ years in manufacturing, with 5+ years in leadership managing 25+ employees across multiple shifts with budget responsibility.

• Formal Lean and Six Sigma training preferred; OSHA certification a plus.

  • Extended standing, sitting, talking, listening, walking, and manual tasks.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Work environment includes noise, protective equipment, and potential exposure to weather, dust, or fumes.
