Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is hiring for an Industrial Maintenance role at our Wichita plant. The position focuses on keeping key machinery running, performing routine preventive maintenance, and quickly fixing breakdowns to minimize downtime.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with related experience or 4 years in food manufacturing maintenance. A vocational/technical diploma is preferred and forklift/PIT operation is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1+ years of related experience in an industrial maintenance or food manufacturing environment; or 4 years’ direct experience in maintenance.
• Vocational/Technical diploma or associate degree preferred.
• Ability to function effectively in a team and interact with all levels of staff and outside contractors.
• Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift, scissor lift or other powered industrial trucks.
• Ability to read and follow work orders and translate equipment manuals.

Responsibilities

• Keep the plant running smoothly by maintaining pumps, motors, conveyors, and compressors; perform regular checks to prevent problems and minimize downtime.
• Maintain a clean and safe facility, including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, painting, cleaning, and grounds upkeep.
• Follow safety protocols and regulations; perform safety checks and ensure OSHA, EPA, and health standards compliance.
• Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to resolve issues and improve performance; participate in training to grow skills.
• Tackle projects and new installations to improve efficiency, safety, and plant operations.
• Support the team by organizing tools and parts and assisting with product transport as needed.
