Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Clerk to manage plant purchasing clerical duties, focusing on the maintenance area.

You will process requisitions, issue and distribute purchase orders, and maintain a real-time database of orders, serving as the primary point of contact with vendors. You’ll support vendor management, inventory control, and reporting while ensuring safety and environmental standards are met.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• SAP knowledge, preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Vendor & Supplier Management: You’ll manage vendor accounts to ensure timely order fulfillment and resolve invoice issues via phone and email.
• Vendor & Supplier Management: You’ll also follow up with suppliers to schedule deliveries, address material discrepancies, and track outstanding orders from the MRO buyer.
• Vendor & Supplier Management: Work with vendors to resolve order problems, including pricing issues, delivery tracking, and invoice discrepancies.
• Vendor & Supplier Management: Coordinate with vendors in emergencies to expedite service for equipment issues.
• Vendor & Supplier Management: Handle orders with consumable vendors for necessary parts.
• Maintenance & Inventory Management: You will oversee the repair and rebuild of items that need attention.
• Maintenance & Inventory Management: Perform monthly checks on tools, fall protection, and off-site inventory.
• Maintenance & Inventory Management: Assist in reviewing Maintenance PMs for accuracy.
• Maintenance & Inventory Management: Communicate with Maintenance staff to address parts room concerns and order requests.
• Reporting & Documentation: Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports to management on Purchasing and Maintenance needs.
• Reporting & Documentation: Create and manage Plant Purchase Orders for receiving and billing.
• Training & Safety Compliance: You’ll also train new employees in the department.
• Training & Safety Compliance: Keep the parts room clean and compliant with Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental standards.
