Job summary

Precoat Metals seeks an experienced HR Generalist to support Portage and LaPorte plants in all HR disciplines. You will drive policy implementation, labor relations, recruitment, onboarding and benefits administration to ensure compliant, efficient people operations.

You will guide managers on training, discipline, and changes, while maintaining accurate HRIS data and employee records across sites.

Qualifications

• Experience across HR disciplines including labor relations, recruiting, onboarding, benefits, training, and policy compliance.
• Ability to interpret and apply employment laws and company policies.
• Excellent communication, discretion, and confidentiality.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with good time management.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support and guide Portage and LaPorte plants in HR disciplines.
• Implement HR policies to comply with state and federal laws.
• Manage hourly recruitment: post openings, review apps, interview candidates.
• Conduct new employee orientation and explain benefits and policies.
• Administer benefits including enrollments and open enrollment support.
• Provide guidance on compliance, training, discipline and terminations.
• Process complaints through proper investigations.
• Set up new hire paperwork and input data into HRIS.
• Initiate HRIS changes such as address updates, transfers, promotions, and terminations.
• Verify HRIS/payroll changes via reports.
• Compile and maintain employee records and documentation.
• Update files for payroll and other employment uses.
• Respond to inquiries with accurate personnel information.
• Prepare reports from HRIS data for management use.
• Distribute current employee information and manuals.
• Maintain records for Affirmative Action and compliance programs.
• Coordinate employee relations activities at plant level (wellness, awards, events).
