Job summary

Precoat Metals in Portage, IN, seeks a Human Resource Generalist to support the Portage and LaPorte plants in Employee/Labor Relations, Recruiting and Onboarding, Benefits, Training & Development, and policy compliance.

This role will implement HR policies, manage recruitment for hourly positions, conduct new hire orientation, administer benefits, maintain HRIS data and employee records, and coordinate employee relations activities to promote engagement. Some travel required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; degree or certification in HR preferred.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience providing HR support.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, HRIS (ADP preferred), and use of the Internet.
• General knowledge of employment laws, EEO, AA, and benefits programs.
• Ability to maintain discretion, diplomacy, and confidentiality; strong time management and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Provide HR support in Employee/Labor Relations, Recruiting and Onboarding, Benefits, Training & Development, and policy compliance.
• Lead and guide Portage and LaPorte plants in all HR disciplines.
• Coordinate employee relations activities to promote employee engagement (Wellness events, recognition programs, etc.).
• Process new hire paperwork and enter data into HRIS; update employee records and generate reports.
• Assist with benefit administration, enrollment, terminations, and annual open enrollment.
