Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing in Spartanburg, SC is seeking a General Manager to lead daily plant operations, from production to quality compliance and safety.

You will set strategic goals, manage budgets and personnel, mentor leaders, and ensure customer deadlines are met with a focus on safety, quality, and productivity. This role requires a proven track record in multi-shift manufacturing leadership and strong business acumen.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 5+ years’ experience leading the operation of a multi-shift production facility.
• Proven leadership experience required.
• Strong business acumen (P&L, strategic planning, resource allocation).
• Knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, inventory and stewardship processes.
• Computer literacy including MS Office (Excel) and ERP/MRP experience.
• Union relations / experience in a union environment preferred.
• Experience in automotive industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and prioritize operational goals and objectives and manage projects to meet corporate goals and customer deadlines.
• Direct the team in solving challenges and overcoming roadblocks to meet goals.
• Complete annual performance appraisals for direct reports and develop improvement plans.
• Collaborate with HR to recruit and retain top talent and implement development programs.
• Mentor leaders and identify future plant leaders for succession planning.
• Interface with customers to resolve issues and communicate action plans.
• Establish and drive improvements in key performance measures.
• Prepare memos, letters, reports, and presentations; communicate clearly.
