Job summary

O-I’s Lapel plant is seeking a Plant Engineer responsible for maintaining production equipment, furnaces, electrical systems, buildings and grounds, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

The role involves inspecting systems, maximizing uptime, training crafts, supporting improvements, applying lean principles, and guiding energy savings initiatives and apprenticeship programs.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
• Experience in a maintenance or engineering management position in a manufacturing environment.
• Leadership abilities and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect plant systems, furnaces, equipment, facilities and grounds.
• Schedule repairs and upgrades to maximize uptime while maintaining safety and quality.
• Supervise training of personnel in electrical, hydraulic and mechanical crafts.
• Support job change initiatives to improve performance.
• Promote lean principles and continuous improvement with involvement of relevant salary/hourly workforce.
• Champion energy savings initiatives.
• Oversee the plant apprenticeship program.
