Job summary

IPG seeks a Plant Safety & Environmental Manager to lead environmental, health, and safety programs at our facility in Carbondale, IL. This exempt salaried role focuses on regulatory readiness, risk reduction, and building a proactive safety culture across the site.

You will partner with plant leadership to implement risk assessments, ensure permit compliance, and drive continuous improvement in EHS performance. Travel may be required to support regulatory and corporate initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive environmental, health, and safety in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Experience with environmental compliance and permitting (air emissions/Title V, stormwater, etc.).
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental and occupational safety regulations.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, investigations, audits, and corrective actions.
• Strong communication, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate with plant leadership, operations, employees, and regulatory agencies.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental compliance programs (air, water, stormwater, hazardous waste) and regulatory management.
• Maintain permits and regulatory requirements including Title V and stormwater.
• Coordinate environmental monitoring, testing, and reporting.
• Serve as primary site contact for regulatory agencies and inspections.
• Lead or support risk assessments, PHAs, JSAs, MOC, LOTO, and safety programs.
• Conduct safety inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
• Coach safety teams and promote a proactive safety culture.
• Develop and deliver EHS training for employees and leaders.
• Support workers' comp and regulatory reporting; maintain EHS records.
• Participate in corporate EHS initiatives and standardization of programs.
