Job summary

LHH is assisting a leading advanced materials and specialty metals manufacturer in finding an Assistant Controller for its Newton, MA location. The role will oversee the plant's accounting activities, drive the monthly close, and deliver financial analysis to support operational decisions.

Partnering with the Plant Controller and Director of Finance, you will lead budgeting, forecasting, inventory and cost analysis, and pursue cost improvements while ensuring adherence to US GAAP and SOX

Qualifications

• Five years+ of accounting or finance experience in manufacturing or plant accounting.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, reconciliations, and budgeting/forecasting.
• SAP experience preferred and ability to partner with operations on cost analysis and process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end closing activities for the Newton plant, including journal entries, reconciliations, and management reports.
• Support monthly forecasting, annual budgeting, cycle counts, physical inventories, and plant cost center reporting.
• Analyze production order activity, variances, inventory valuation, and other plant financial results to identify improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and finance on standard costing, capital project business cases, and SOX/compliance requirements.
