Job summary

The Prince George’s County Planning Department of the Maryland-National-Capital Park and Planning Commission is hiring a Planning Technician III to support planning reviews and provide guidance to applicants and professionals.

The role requires knowledge of zoning and subdivision codes, master plans, and design standards, along with strong analytical and communication skills. Telework options and a supportive benefit program enhance the position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Four years of progressively responsible experience with plan, permit and development application review.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total two (4) years.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical reviews of permits, minor subdivision applications, and agreements or documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and conditions of related approvals.
• Identify problems and changes needed for compliance to regulations and policies.
• Ensure compliance with approved plans and post approval requirements.
• Communicate the needs and/or deficiencies of application packages to applicants, agents and plan reviewers.
• Prepare review comments.
• Interpret codes, ordinances, maps, plans and planning procedures and regulations for the public and professionals.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
