Job summary

The Prince George’s County Planning Department of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is seeking a Planner III to join our planning team in Largo, Maryland. The role focuses on reviewing land-use proposals, coordinating multi-agency projects, and providing expert planning analysis for countywide developments.

The ideal candidate brings a bachelor's degree in planning or related field, four years of professional experience, and strong written and verbal communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Geography, Architecture, Parks and Recreation, Transportation, Urban Design, Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Policy, Economics or related field.
• Four years of progressively responsible professional planning experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted (8 years total).
• Valid driver's license with clean record per state and commission rules.

Responsibilities

• Review land use proposals to ensure conformance with County Code and regulations.
• Coordinate with departments, agencies, and the public on multi-faceted projects.
• Lead project work, provide zoning expertise, and present findings at public hearings.
• Prepare administrative work related to case assignments and maintain deadlines.
