Job summary

Maricopa County Community College District in Chandler seeks a Planning and Research Director (short-term) to provide strategic leadership for institutional research, planning and data-informed decision-making across the college.

You will lead the collection, analysis, interpretation, and communication of institutional data to support strategic planning, accreditation, enrollment management, and resource allocation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in statistics, educational studies, business administration or related field, with six years of progressively responsible experience in institutional effectiveness.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Manages institutional effectiveness and serves as the data guide in strategic conversations.
  • Oversees planning, research, implementation, administration and evaluation of programs.
  • Provides research in support of strategic, budgeting and operational planning.
  • Performs and oversees advanced statistical analysis.
  • Ensures program compliance with accrediting agency and governmental requirements.
  • Participates in strategic planning and decision-making within IE and across the college.
  • Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of staff.

Job Summary

****This is a short-term position with a projected end date of 06/30/2027. Based on funding, position may be extended.

The Director of Planning and Research provides strategic leadership for institutional research, planning and data-informed decision-making across the college. This position leads the collection, analysis, interpretation, and communication of institutional data to support strategic planning, accreditation, enrollment management, resource allocation, program evaluation, and continuous improvement. CGCC is currently part of the Aspen's Institute Unlocking Opportunities program and other data centered work that this role would play an integral part in.

The Director also collaborates across the college and district to ensure data integrity, establish meaningful performance indicators, identify trends and opportunities, and align institutional priorities with student success and the college's mission.

Essential Functions

30% Manages institutional effectiveness, collaborative data work across the college and serves as the data guide in strategic conversations.

20% Provides oversight of the planning, research, implementation, administration and evaluation of programs

10% Provides research in support of strategic, budgeting and operational planning

10% Performs and oversees advanced statistical analysis

10% Ensures program compliance with accrediting agency and governmental requirements

10% Participates in strategic planning and decision-making within IE and across the college as a whole

10% Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of staff

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in statistics, educational studies, business administration or directly related field and six (6) years of progressively responsible experience administering institutional effectiveness programs and activities, which includes two (2) years of supervisory experience.

OR

An equivalent combination of education and/or experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications
  1. One year of full-time, relevant MCCCD experience within the previous two years.
  2. 6 or more years of progressively responsible experience administering institutional effectiveness programs and activities
  3. 2 or more years' experience serving as the data and analytic partner to an institutional strategic planning process, including developing indicators, establishing baselines, setting targets, and reporting progress on a defined cycle.
  4. 2 or more years' experience guiding or participating in institutional self-study and accreditation processes.
  5. 2 or more years' experience that demonstrates proficiency with at least one analytic environment (R, Python, SPSS, SAS, Stata, etc.) sufficient to conduct cohort and disaggregated outcomes analysis.
  6. 4 or more years' experience designing and maintaining dashboards, including consolidating redundant reports and maintaining consistent data definitions.
  7. 4 or more years' experience with translating complex technical data into clear insights for non-technical leadership.
  8. One year of relevant full-time MCCCD experience during the previous two years. **** Experience within other community college systems or higher education institutions is valued and may be considered in addition to MCCCD experience. External candidates are encouraged to apply.
