Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) is seeking a Public Relations Marketing Director for a short-term role at Glendale Community College. The director will lead marketing, communications, public relations, and branding, directing budgets and campaigns to support district initiatives.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in PR/marketing and 6+ years of experience in marketing and PR, plus 2 years of supervisory experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in public relations, marketing, journalism or related field and six (6) years of public relations and marketing experience that includes planning, managing and implementing associated programs and marketing campaigns and two (2) years of management and supervisory experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience sufficient to perform the essential duties, as described above.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns to build brand awareness, recruit students, and re-engage students.
  • Lead the development of content strategies for GCC priorities and goals across print, digital, video, social media, and advertising.
  • Oversee content creation across print, digital, web, video, and social media to ensure a cohesive brand voice.
  • Provide oversight of media relations, public information, marketing programs and crisis communications.

Job Summary

The Public Relations & Marketing Director develops, leads, and executes comprehensive marketing, communications, public relations, and branding strategies that support the College's mission, vision, and strategic goals. This role oversees all marketing and communications channels, including media relations, public information, advertising, digital and social media, content development, and community outreach initiatives. Responsible for setting strategic direction, managing budgets and media investments, directing integrated marketing campaigns, and providing leadership to marketing team members, the Director promotes the College's programs, services, and achievements to internal and external stakeholders. The Director collaborates with college leadership and Maricopa Community Colleges District Marketing & Communications to ensure consistent messaging, data-informed decision making, and alignment with district initiatives. Servings as the College's Public Information Officer, this position ensures consistent and effective communications that strengthen community engagement, enhance the College's reputation, and advance institutional goals.

Essential Functions

25% - Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns to build brand awareness, recruit students, and re-engage students. Lead the development of content and content strategies that advance GCC's priorities and goals. Oversee the creation of content across print, digital, video, social media, presentations, advertising, and executive communications. Collaborate with college leadership, stakeholders, and Maricopa Community Colleges District Marketing & Communications to ensure content is clear, consistent, aligned with brand standards, and effectively reaches key audiences. Manage data analytics related to marketing and communications, including Google, social media, and digital advertising analytics. Monitor campaign effectiveness to identify trends, and inform strategic decision-making. Review and analyze metrics and performance measures and recommend adjustments to achieve desired campaign goals

25% - Guide and inspire the college's marketing and communications team, responsible for comprehensive public relations, marketing, and internal/external communications. Oversee the creation and execution of strategic communication plans, modern advertising initiatives, and cross‑channel brand campaigns. Direct the creative development of high-quality print, digital, web, video, and social media content to ensure a cohesive brand voice. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate internal marketing staff. Oversee communication efforts across the college. Provide oversight and direct the planning and implementation of media relations, public information, marketing and communications; develop public relations and marketing programs, projects and initiatives. Ensures compliance with applicable regulations, policies, requirements and/or standards. Oversees process research and implements industry standards, trends, best practices and emerging technologies for the work unit

25% - Serve as the College's Public Information Officer. Lead the college's public relations and communications efforts to strengthen GCC's visibility, increase community awareness, and protect the college's reputation. Develop strategic communications, media relations, and executive messaging while serving as a communications advisor to college leadership on messaging, public perception, and emerging issues. Collaborate with Maricopa Community Colleges District Marketing & Communications to ensure alignment with District priorities and crisis communication efforts. Support and coordinate college-level communication strategies, ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent messaging for internal and external audiences. Oversee and direct emergency communication, crisis management and communication risk mitigation. Performs fact‑finding and troubleshooting activities in areas of special interest to the College President; researches and writes speeches, messages, programs and materials for the College President or College for public dissemination

10% - Prioritize projects and initiatives in alignment with organizational objectives. Collaborate with all college areas to develop clear communication and promotional strategies; inform and consult with executive leadership regarding strategy, outcomes, trends and offer suggestions and input for continuous improvement. Work collaboratively with Maricopa Community College District Marketing to ensure alignment with and support of District Initiatives

10% - Manage and administer budgets and expenditures; identify resource needs and make recommendations. Oversee and manage budgets as assigned ensuring compliance with Maricopa and state requirements

5% - Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in public relations, marketing, journalism or related field and six (6) years of public relations and marketing experience that includes planning, managing and implementing associated programs and marketing campaigns and two (2) years of management and supervisory experience.

An equivalent combination of education and/or experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A. Master's Degree or higher in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or another closely related field.

B. Five years of supervisory experience leading a marketing team and overseeing the development and execution of the marketing strategy, including working with external contractors.

C. Five years of experience with optimizing online content through social media management, web design/content, email marketing, and digital advertising.

D. Five years of experience with managing the public relations communication in an enterprise-level organization and /or public sector.

E. Four years of experience with analyzing marketing data and analytics, social media data, and digital advertising analytics to enhance the college's marketing efforts.

F. One year of full-time relevant MCCCD experience during the previous two years

Special Working Conditions

Travel - May be required to work at multiple sites or locations.

Work Schedule - May be required to work evenings and weekends.
