Job summary

Aggreko, LLC seeks a Planned Maintenance Technician to join our Chicago (Lemont) service center. You will perform preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel generators, HVAC equipment, chillers and oil-free air systems, with local travel in a company vehicle.

You will work in a dynamic field environment with overtime and possible travel; a valid driver’s license is required and you may need TWIC/DOT cards. A strong mechanical background and safety mindset are essential.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience working on diesel power and/or HVAC equipment, including inspections, maintenance and repairs.
  • Ability to calculate nominal and effective tonnage or kW requirements and read schematics.
  • May require TWIC card or valid DOT medical card.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 60–75 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of power generators, diesel engines, electrical equipment, chillers, HVAC, and oil-free air compressors.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures at shop and at customer locations; perform repairs.
  • Work in the field and at the shop; may operate solo or with other technicians.

What you'll do
  • You’ll be based out of our Chicago (Lemont), IL service center and can expect to work in the field with local travel daily in your company vehicle
  • You’ll have an opportunity to work overtime and weekends, and there is a potential for travel
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of power generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, Chillers, HVAC equipment and/or oil free air compressors
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures at the shop and on customer locations, and handle the repairs
  • You will either be out on your own or teamed up with another technician(s) to set up and operate equipment at the shop and on customer sites
You are
  • High School diploma/GED
  • 2+ years of experience working on diesel power/natural gas generators and/or commercial HVAC equipment, chillers, performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs
  • Experience with calculating nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements, along with reading and knowing schematic
  • Based on the customer requirements, you may be required to obtain and maintain a TWIC card or valid DOT medical card
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to move or lift objects, typically less than 75 lbs.

Other essential job requirements
  • Availability to work the assigned schedule, travel to work locations (if needed) and be on standby for work outside of regularly scheduled shifts
  • Must be able to stand, walk and sit for prolonged periods of time; and be able to walk over uneven terrain with functional balance that does not require any special assistive devices
  • Must be able to move the extremities and spine through a functional range of motion that will permit work to be safely performed from ground / floor level to full overhead level
  • Must have good finger dexterity to manipulate small items, functional hand-eye coordination, and functionally grip with adequate strength to safely hold tools and stair railing or ladders
  • Must be able to safely meet the physical demands outlined in the Essential Physical Capacities Assessment and pass the post-offer physical abilities assessment, which includes being able to lift (60 lbs), push/pull (80 lbs), carry (60 lbs), climb stairs and ladders as well as a combination of climbing while carrying objects (15 lbs), stoop, kneel and squat
