Job summary

Aggreko in Chicago (Lemont), IL is seeking a Planned Maintenance Technician to service diesel generators, HVAC and related power systems. You will operate from our Lemont service center and travel locally in a company vehicle, performing preventive maintenance and repairs at customer sites as needed.

You should have a High School diploma/GED and 2+ years of field experience with diesel power and/or commercial HVAC equipment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of experience working on diesel power generators and/or commercial HVAC equipment, chillers, maintenance and repairs.
• Experience with calculating nominal and effective tonnage or kW requirements; ability to read schematics.

Responsibilities

• Based at the Chicago (Lemont), IL service center and travel locally in a company vehicle.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution, chillers, HVAC equipment and oil-free air compressors.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures at shop and customer sites; perform repairs.
• Work solo or with another technician to set up and operate equipment at shop and customer locations.

What You’ll Do

• You’ll be based out of our Chicago (Lemont), IL service center

and can expect to work in the field with local travel daily in your company vehicle

• You’ll have an opportunity to work overtime and weekends, and there is a potential for travel
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of power generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, Chillers, HVAC equipment and/or oil free air compressors
• Troubleshoot equipment failures at the shop and on customer locations, and handle the repairs
• You will either be out on your own or teamed up with another technician(s) to set up and operate equipment at the shop and on customer sites

You Are

• High School diploma/GED
• 2+ years of experience working on diesel power/natural gas generators and/or commercial HVAC equipment, chillers, performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs
• Experience with calculating nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements, along with reading and knowing schematic
• Based on the customer requirements, you may be required to obtain and maintain a TWIC card or valid DOT medical card
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to move or lift objects, typically less than 75 lbs.

Other Essential Job Requirements

• Availability to work the assigned schedule, travel to work locations (if needed) and be on standby for work outside of regularly scheduled shifts
• Must be able to stand, walk and sit for prolonged periods of time; and be able to walk over uneven terrain with functional balance that does not require any special assistive devices
• Must be able to move the extremities and spine through a functional range of motion that will permit work to be safely performed from ground / floor level to full overhead level
• Must have good finger dexterity to manipulate small items, functional hand-eye coordination, and functionally grip with adequate strength to safely hold tools and stair railing or ladders
• Must be able to safely meet the physical demands outlined in the Essential Physical Capacities Assessment and pass the post-offer physical abilities assessment, which includes being able to lift (60 lbs), push/pull (80 lbs), carry (60 lbs), climb stairs and ladders as well as a combination of climbing while carrying objects (15 lbs), stoop, kneel and squat
