Job summary

Aggreko, LLC is seeking a Power Technician 2 based in Bridgeport, NJ, with local travel in the company vehicle. You will perform preventive maintenance and repairs on generators, engines, electrical gear, and oil-free air compressors, and troubleshoot at shops or customer sites.

The role requires 3-7 years of generator experience, practical schematics knowledge, and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. A valid driver's license and potential TWIC/DOT card may be needed.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-7 years of experience working on power generators equipment, performing inspections, maintenance and repairs.
  • Experience with calculating nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements, along with reading schematics.
  • May require TWIC card or valid DOT medical card.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of power generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, and/or oil free air compressors.
  • Troubleshooting equipment failures at the shop and at customer locations and handling the repairs.
  • Set up and operate equipment at the shop and on customer sites, either solo or with a team.

What you’ll do:

You’ll be based out of our Bridgeport, NJ Service Center and can expect to work in the field with local travel daily in your company vehicle. You’ll have an opportunity to work overtime and weekends, and there is a potential for travel. Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of power generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, and/or oil free air compressors. Troubleshooting equipment failures at the shop and at customer locations and handling the repairs. You will either be out on your own or teamed up with other technician(s) to set up and operate equipment at the shop and on customer sites.

You are:
  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent work experience
  • 3-7 years of experience working on power generators equipment, performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Experience with calculating nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements, along with reading and knowing schematics.
  • Based on the customer requirements, you may be required to obtain and maintain a TWIC card or valid DOT medical card.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to move or lift objects, typically less than 75 lbs.

Other essential job requirements:

Availability to work the assigned schedule, travel to work locations (if needed) and be on standby for work outside of regularly scheduled shifts Must be able to stand, walk and sit for prolonged periods of time; and be able to walk over uneven terrain with functional balance that does not require any special assistive devices Must be able to move the extremities and spine through a functional range of motion that will permit work to be safely performed from ground / floor level to full overhead level Must have good finger dexterity to manipulate small items, functional hand-eye coordination, and functionally grip with adequate strength to safely hold tools and stair railing or ladders Must be able to safely meet the physical demands outlined in the Essential Physical Capacities Assessment and pass the post-offer physical abilities assessment, which includes being able to lift (60 lbs), push/pull (80 lbs), carry (60 lbs), climb stairs and ladders as well as a combination of climbing while carrying objects (15 lbs), stoop, kneel and squat Our people are can-do, positive, resilient and persistent.
