Job summary

Aggreko is seeking a Technician 1 - Power based in the Lemont, IL service center to perform maintenance and repairs on power generation and HVAC equipment.

You will troubleshoot both shop and on-site equipment, work solo or with others, and may travel as needed. The role is full-time with overtime potential and a comprehensive training program.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of experience working on power generators and/or commercial HVAC equipment.
• Experience with calculating nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements, and reading schematics.
• May be required to obtain and maintain a TWIC card or valid DOT medical card based on customer requirements.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Ability to move or lift objects, typically less than 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of power generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, HVAC equipment and/or oil-free air compressors.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures at the shop and on customer locations and perform repairs.
• Operate equipment at the shop and on customer sites, either solo or with a team.

Bring your energy to Aggreko as a Technician 1 - Power based in Chicago (Lemont), IL Power without pause. Heating, cooling and oil-free air without end. We keep our customers’ worlds on. From world-class events that last a few weeks to mining operations and remote communities who rely on us for decades.

What You’ll Do

• You’ll be based out of our Lemont, IL. service center.
• You’ll have an opportunity to work overtime and weekends, and there is a potential for travel.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of power generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, HVAC equipment and/or oil free air compressors.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures at the shop and on customer locations and handle the repairs.
• You will either be out on your own or teamed up with other technician(s) to set up and operate equipment at the shop and on customer sites.

You Are

• High School diploma/GED
• 3+ years of experience working on power generators and/or commercial HVAC equipment, performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
• Experience with calculating nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements, along with reading and knowing schematics.
• Based on the customer requirements, you may be required to obtain and maintain a TWIC card or valid DOT medical card
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to move or lift objects, typically less than 75 lbs.

Other Essential Job Requirements

• Availability to work the assigned schedule, travel to work locations (if needed) and be on standby for work outside of regularly scheduled shifts
• Must be able to stand, walk and sit for prolonged periods of time; and be able to walk over uneven terrain with functional balance that does not require any special assistive devices
• Must be able to move the extremities and spine through a functional range of motion that will permit work to be safely performed from ground / floor level to full overhead level
• Must have good finger dexterity to manipulate small items, functional hand-eye coordination, and functionally grip with adequate strength to safely hold tools and stair railing or ladders
• Must be able to safely meet the physical demands outlined in the Essential Physical Capacities Assessment and pass the post-offer physical abilities assessment, which includes being able to lift (60 lbs.), push/pull (80 lbs.), carry (60 lbs.), climb stairs and ladders as well as a combination of climbing while carrying objects (15 lbs.), stoop, kneel and squat
