Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels is seeking a Coffee Shop Associate to welcome guests, promote our coffee offerings, and craft beverages and pastries to standard. You will drive sales by suggesting products, handle cash transactions, and maintain accurate opening/closing procedures in a fast-paced cafe setting.

Work with a small team to stock, clean, and reset the store, while delivering passionate, engaging service that reflects Sonesta's guest-first culture and the GUEST service model.

Qualifications

• No formal education required stated in the ad.
• Prior experience in customer service is beneficial.

What this role is all about

Promotes coffee consumption by educating customers; sells coffee and coffee grinding and brewing equipment, accessories, and supplies; prepares and serves a variety of coffee drinks, along with pastries and cookies.

What you'll be doing

Key Job Functions

• Welcomes and greets every customer as they enter the outlet
• Determine customer needs and appropriately suggest product with every customer to enhance service and meet sales goals
• Follows Sonesta Service standards with every guest interaction
• Prepares PJ's Coffee Cafe beverages according to standards in F&B SOP Manual
• Follows store policy and procedures for operational flow
• Follows health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products
• Itemizes and totals check for service or totals takeout transaction on cash register and accepts payment
• Follows Hotel's cash handling procedures and cash register policies
• Stocks and replenishes merchandise and rotates stock
• Performs cleaning tasks as assigned in daily opening and/or closing duties to maintain cleanliness standards
• Maximize revenue and contribute to store sales goals by reducing waste and improving profits
• Observes safety and security procedures; determines appropriate action beyond guidelines
• Reports potentially unsafe conditions
• Build solid relationship with your Colleagues
• Treats colleagues with respect and dignity
• Treats people with respect; keeps commitments; inspires the trust of others; works with integrity and ethically; upholds organizational values.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Supervises 3-5 employees
• Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the coffee shop
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
• Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems
