Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels in New Orleans is seeking a Coffee Shop Supervisor for PJ's Coffee Cafe. You will greet guests, upsell beverages and pastries, and ensure high standards of service in a fast-paced cafe environment.

You will lead 3-5 teammates, train staff, manage cash, stock supplies, and uphold health and safety guidelines to deliver exceptional guest experiences. Benefits and employee discounts are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in a coffee shop or hospitality environment preferred.
• Ability to train employees and supervise 3-5 staff.
• Knowledge of health and safety guidelines in food service.
• Ability to manage cash transactions and operate the POS accurately.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and determine needs to meet sales goals.
• Prepare PJ's Coffee Cafe beverages according to standards.
• Follow service standards and cash handling procedures.
• Stock and rotate merchandise; maintain inventory accuracy.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards; observe waste reduction opportunities.
• Supervise 3-5 employees and provide training as needed.

What this role is all about

Promotes coffee consumption by educating customers; sells coffee and coffee grinding and brewing equipment, accessories, and supplies; prepares and serves a variety of coffee drinks, along with pastries and cookies.

Key Job Functions

• Welcomes and greets every customer as they enter the outlet
• Determine customer needs and appropriately suggest product with every customer to enhance service and meet sales goals
• Follows Sonesta Service standards with every guest interaction
• Prepares PJ's Coffee Cafe beverages according to standards in F&B SOP Manual
• Follows store policy and procedures for operational flow
• Follows health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products
• Itemizes and totals check for service or totals takeout transaction on cash register and accepts payment
• Follows Hotel's cash handling procedures and cash register policies
• Stocks and replenishes merchandise and rotates stock
• Performs cleaning tasks as assigned in daily opening and/or closing duties to maintain cleanliness standards
• Maximize revenue and contribute to store sales goals by reducing waste and improving profits
• Observes safety and security procedures; determines appropriate action beyond guidelines
• Reports potentially unsafe conditions

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. The employee is expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Supervises 3-5 employees
• Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the coffee shop
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
• Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems
