Job summary

Consolidated Nuclear Security is seeking a Piping Design Engineer within the Division Managed Design (DMD) at the Y-12 complex in Oak Ridge, TN. You will design, size components, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance for piping systems across the facility.

Responsibilities include valve sizing, walk-downs, and producing technical documents such as P&IDs and data sheets, using ASME B31.1/B31.3 and other industry standards.

Qualifications

• ABET accreditation required for the program.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Physical Science with ABET accreditation and GPA requirements as specified.
• MS in Engineering/Physical Science or PhD may satisfy the minimum requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform piping design and related calculations.
• Size relief valves and ensure compliance with ASME B31.1, B31.3, API, and Boiler Pressure Vessel codes.
• Conduct walk-downs and inspections of piping systems and prepare technical documents (P&IDs, datasheets, BOMs).
• Apply design standards and regulations (ASME B31.1/B31.3, ASTM, AWWA) and plan project tasks.
• Demonstrate effective communication and work both independently and in teams.
