Job summary

Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN seeks a Chemical Process Design Engineer to join the Piping and Process Eng team. The role focuses on developing detailed design packages and providing field support for project implementation.

You will perform flowsheet development, P&IDs, analyses, and calculations, while contributing to safety basis documentation and equipment sizing. DOE clearance is required and collaboration with system engineers is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0 for Bachelor, 3.3 for Master, 3.5 for PhD (if applicable).
• DOE O 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied after employment.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality detailed design packages and provide engineering support.
• Lead or participate in multi-disciplinary task teams and provide field technical support.
• Perform flowsheet development, P&IDs, calculations, and design criteria.
• Prepare design deliverables including cost estimates, work statements, and equipment specs.
• Ensure safety basis documentation and vendor/constructability considerations.
