Job summary

ONE Gas, Inc. is seeking an Inspector for field operations in Austin, TX to perform inspections on company pipelines and oversee contractor work. The role supports operation and maintenance of tools, requires logging and reporting, and involves emergency response duties.

The candidate should have 2–4 years of relevant experience, familiarity with pipeline standards, and the ability to read maps and blueprints. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Two to four years of relevant experience; minimum one year required.
• Experience with use, function and maintenance of tools and equipment relevant to the position.
• Experience with basic arithmetic (add/subtract/multiply/divide).
• Knowledge of pipeline construction and safety standards/regulations.

Responsibilities

• Inspect installation, maintenance, and removal work performed by contractors on transmission and distribution pipelines for compliance with standards.
• Assist with operation and maintenance of tools and equipment used on site.
• Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Maintain logs and prepare reports (inspection, leak, job orders, training records, mileage, accidents).
• Investigate customer orders and emergency situations (low pressure calls, leaks, fires).
• Review invoices for accuracy (pricing, quantities, materials).
• Ensure regular and reliable attendance; perform additional duties as assigned.
