Job summary

Garney Construction is seeking a Pipelayer to install and repair underground pipes for water, sewer and drain systems. You will prepare trenches, lay pipe, join components, and test for leaks on large diameter projects.

The role requires two years of pipe-laying experience, ability to read blueprints, physical stamina, and willingness to obtain Garney certifications and work overtime. Competitive benefits and strong career growth await in a hands-on field team.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience installing large diameter pipes for water, sewer, storm drain.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications to determine work procedure.
• Must be able to stand for an entire day and perform tasks as assigned.
• Willing to complete Garney certifications including Rigging and Signaling, Confined Space, OSHA 10 hour.
• Willing to work overtime.

Responsibilities

• Prepare work area by directing trenching and grading.
• Assist equipment operators in placing pipe.
• Direct equipment operators with hand signals.
• Backfill around pipe using hand tools.
• Set up and use pipe lasers and transits.
• Locate and mark pipe positions in trenches.
• Assemble and install valves, fittings and pipe.
• Join pipes with screws, bolts, fittings and solvent cement.
• Test pipes for leakage and measure/cut as required.
