Job summary

Garney Construction is seeking a Pipelayer in the Savannah, GA area. The role involves assembling, installing, and repairing underground pipes for water, sewer, and drainage projects. You will prepare trenches, assist operators, and ensure precise placement using lasers and transits.

The ideal candidate has two years of pipe-laying experience, can read blueprints, and is willing to obtain Garney certifications and work overtime as needed. Competitive benefits and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience installing large diameter pipes for water, sewer, storm drain.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications.
• Must be able to stand for an entire day, understand and perform tasks.
• Willing to complete Garney certifications (Rigging and Signaling, Confined Space Training, OSHA 10).
• Willing to work overtime.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the area in which pipe will lay by directing trenching and grading.
• Perform functions of a laborer as required.
• Assist equipment operators in the placement of pipe.
• Direct equipment operators with hand signals.
• Backfill around pipe using hand tools.
• Set-up and work with pipe lasers and transits.
• Locate and mark the correct position of pipe and fittings in an underground trench.
• Assemble and install valves, fittings and pipe composed of metal, PVC, ductile and concrete.
• Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and plastic solvent cement.
• Test pipes for leakage, measures and cuts pipe.
