Job summary

Garney is seeking a Pipelayer to assemble, install and repair underground pipes and fittings for water, sewer, and drain systems. You will lay pipe, read blueprints, and work with a crew to ensure precise placement and connections.

Applicants should have two years of experience with large diameter piping, be able to read specs, and commit to overtime. Certifications listed above are required or pursued with Garney. Competitive benefits and 401(k) offered.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience installing large diameter pipes for water, sewer, storm drain.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Able to stand for long shifts and perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the area for pipe laying via trenching and grading.
• Assist equipment operators in placing pipe.
• Direct equipment operators with hand signals.
• Backfill around pipe with hand tools.
• Set up pipe lasers and transits.
• Locate and mark pipe positions in underground trenches.
• Assemble and install valves, fittings, and pipe.
• Join pipes with screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and solvent cement.
• Test pipes for leakage and measure/cut pipe.
