Job summary

Garney Construction is seeking a Pipelayer to join our field crews. You will assemble, install and repair underground pipes and fittings for water, sewer, and drainage projects, including metal, PVC, ductile iron, and concrete pipe.

Two years of experience installing large diameter pipes is required. Travel and overtime are expected as part of our field operations; Garney provides comprehensive training, safety certifications, and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience installing large diameter pipes for water, sewer, storm drain.
• Must be willing to complete Garney trainings and certifications such as Rigging and Signaling, Confined Space Training, and OSHA 10 hour.
• Must be willing to travel and work overtime.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the area by directing trenching and grading.
• Perform functions of a Laborer as required.
• Assist equipment Operators in placement of pipe.
• Direct equipment Operators with hand signals.
• Backfill around pipe using hand tools.
• Set up and work with pipe lasers and transits.
• Locate and mark the position of pipe and fittings in an underground trench.
• Join pipes with screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and solvent cement.
• Test pipes for leakage and measure/cut pipe.
• Promote Garney goals and philosophies.
