Job description

Welder - Combination

This position requires the ability to join metal parts, such as pipes or metal plates, according to layout, blueprints, work orders, welding procedures, or oral instructions, through the application of heat or electric arc-welding equipment. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Operate spot welding guns or hand, electric, or gas welding equipment to weld or tack weld pieces together.
2. Assemble pipes from torches to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas, and operate valves to release the gas mixture.
3. Adjust flame temperature, size, and color by burning torch and controlling gas and air flow.
4. Preheat workpieces for welding or shaping using a torch.
5. Fill holes or correct mistakes in lead pieces, and modify metal workpieces by thinning bulges and creating curves.
6. Inspect workpieces for weaknesses, and measure with straightedges or templates to ensure specifications are met.
7. Climb ladders or scaffolds to disassemble textures as necessary.
8. Signal crane operators to lift large workpieces.
9. Use thermal-cutting equipment such as flame-cutting torches or plasma-arc tools to disassemble metal assemblies or cut scrap metal.
10. Utilize hoists, cranes, wire and banding machines, or hand tools to position and secure workpieces.
11. Select welding locations based on metal type, thickness, area, and temperature considerations to ensure safety and quality.
12. Apply flame or electrodes to straighten, bend, dissolve, or develop metal parts.
13. Join pieces, cover taut points, and add metal to develop parts as needed.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education: No minimum education requirements.

Experience: 3-5 years of Journeyman-level experience.
