Summary: Assists the Journeyman Millwright with installations, repairs, replacements, and dismantling of machinery and heavy equipment used in industrial settings. This role involves performing essential duties such as:

1. Replacing defective parts of machines or adjusting clearances and alignment of moving parts.
2. Aligning machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
3. Connecting power units to machines or steam piping to equipment, and testing units to evaluate mechanical operation.
4. Repairing and lubricating machines and equipment.
5. Positioning steel beams to support bedplates of machines and equipment, using blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
6. Inserting shims, adjusting tension on nuts and bolts, or positioning parts with hand tools and measuring instruments to set specified clearances.
7. Moving machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
8. Attaching moving parts and subassemblies to basic units using hand and power tools.
9. Assembling machines and fastening them to foundations or structures via bolting, welding, riveting, etc.
10. Marking mounting holes with measuring instruments and drilling with power drills.
11. Bolt parts such as side and deck plates, jaw plates, and journals to assemblies.
12. Leveling bedplates and establishing centerlines with straightedges, levels, and transit tools.
13. Dismantling machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
14. Shrink-fitting bushings, sleeves, rings, liners, gears, and wheels with portable gas heating equipment.
