Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. seeks a skilled pipefitter to lay out, fit, cut, bend and assemble pipe systems according to blueprints while performing duties safely and efficiently.

The role involves selecting components, assembling pipes of iron, steel, copper and plastic, testing for leaks, and securing installations with brackets. Reading blueprints and following directions from supervisors are essential. We offer competitive benefits and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction from supervisor and welder.

Responsibilities

• Select correct pipe, elbows, flanges, hangers or supports, cut to correct length, thread pipe, bend pipe using saws, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine and plan assembly.
• Lay out, assemble, position, grind, align and fit components together usually for hydraulic or pneumatic processes.
• Assemble and install variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, copper, and plastic.
• Connect pipes, using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints, and hand tools.
• Secure pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers, using hand tools and power tools.
• Install and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment, such as pumps and cylinders, using hand tools by following specifications and blueprints.
• Increase pressure in pipe system and observes connected pressure gauge to test system for leaks.
• Bolt, clamp and support components for welding.
• Make repairs or modifications by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and then reassembling the parts for the welder.
• Other duties as assigned.
