Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. seeks a skilled Pipe Fitter to lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related equipment in industrial settings.

You will follow blueprints, ensure safety, and work toward high-quality, efficient installations. Responsibilities include selecting materials, cutting, threading, bending, and securing pipes, plus maintaining hydraulic/pneumatic components and testing systems.

Qualifications

• Must pass written Pipe Fitter test.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor.
• Utilize basic math to solve geometric problems.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively.
• 40+ hours per week with possible weekend work.
• Background check and drug screen may be required based on location.

Responsibilities

• Select type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment per specifications.
• Plan installation or repair to avoid obstructions and interference with other workers.
• Cut pipe using saws, pipe cutter, hammer, chisel, torch, and pipe-cutting machine.
• Thread pipe using pipe-threading machine.
• Bend pipe using pipe-bending tools and machine.
• Assemble and install metal and nonmetal pipes with joints by various methods.
• Secure pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers.
• Install and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components or machines and equipment.
• Install and maintain compressors, pumps, meters, and piping per blueprints.
• Increase pressure in pipe system and test with gauge.
• May weld pipe supports to structural members.
